Here is the latest news from my corner of the art world,
I have had paintings selected for inclusion in two of the most important art shows in the international market; the Shanghai Zhujiajiao International Watercolour Biennial Exhibition, www.shzjjwatercolour.com and the 2010 Beijing International Art Biennale (BIAB), www.bjbiennale.com.cn/en.
The following paintings are included in the China shows;
Shanghai Watercolour Biennial – Visual Abundance and Plymouth Silver
Beijing Art Biennale – Pure Sapphire
My paintings have garnered the following awards over the past several months:
Rooftops – New York, was awarded First Place in the Watercolor Category in the Artist’s Magazine’s On-Line All Media Competition.
Silver & Crystal with Magnolia received the Chevillon Memorial Award at the Transparent Watercolor Society’s 34th Annual Juried Exhibition.
Bicycles, was awarded a Merit Award in the Louisiana Watercolor Societies 40th Annual International Exhibition.
Silver and Crystal with Grappa and Magnolia received First Place in the Society of Watercolor Artist, Fort Worth, 29th Juried Art Exhibition.
Orangina received the Excellence in Watercolor Purchase Prize in the Tennessee Watercolor Society 32nd Exhibition.
My paintings have also been included in the following competitive shows:
Pure Sapphire and Strawberries in Silver Dish were selected for inclusion in the Bi-State Show of the Meridian Museum of Art in Meridian, MS.
Silver and Crystal with Grappa and Magnolia is included in The Pleiades Gallery, New York, NY, 29th Annual Juried Exhibition
Several of my paintings will be included in the following publications;
Splash 11, which was recently released and the upcoming Splash 12,
Artistic Touch #4 which is to be released soon,
The Best of Watercolor published by American Artist, which has just reached the newsstands and
Award Winning American Watercolorist to be published in China in 2012.
I recently gave a Floral Workshop at the Dillman’s Creative Arts Foundation (www.dillmans.com) on a beautiful lake outside Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin. We had ten very enthusiastic and talented painters. The facility is first rate and the environment was outstanding. I will be back next year and hope you will consider joining me there for a week of fun and learning.
The Southside Gallery in Oxford, Mississippi (www.southside.com) will be hosting a two artist show of my paintings and those of Norma Bourdeaux. The show dates are September 5 through September 25. I hope you will join us for the reception Thursday evening 16 September 6-8 PM.
